MLU Strikers Win State Cup

The U-14 Girls Strikers have won the New Jersey Youth Soccer Association’s Snicker’s State Cup Competition. The Strikers beat the PDA Power 3-0 on Saturday in the semi-final round of competition. PDA was the two time defending State Cup Champs. Angela DeSumma scored a goal unassisted. Jennifer Pfeiffer scored with an assist by Angela DeSumma. Gwen Conte also scored with the assist from Megan Crable Alicia Borstad posted the shutout in goal.

Sunday, the Strikers defeated the Wall Strikers 1-0, in the final game of the State Cup. Jackie Bishop scored on an assist by Megan Crable. Alicia Borstad posted her 3rd straight shutout in goal for MLU.

Please join us in congratulating the players and coaching staff on this impressive accomplishment.

On Thursday, August 7, the board of directors held its annual elections. The results of the election were:

Also at the meeting, Dave D'Antonio was elected as Sportsmanship director.

MLU Recreational League

New This Fall for Mt. Laurel High School Students!!!

MLU will field one men's and one women's high school team for the fall 2003 season. More teams may be added as required. The registration fee is $65. Registration deadline is 8/1/2003.

MLU teams will play in the established Marlton-Pinelands League against teams from Marlton, Medford, Medford Lakes, Shamong, Tabernacle and Southampton.

Congratulations to the U-13 Girls Strikers who were State Cup finalists and the U-13 Boys Lasers who made it to the semi-finals.


MLU Food Drive

MLU is conducting a food drive to benefit needy families and individuals in the Burlington and Camden County areas.

Super G shopping carts, marked with orange flags, will be available at all recreation and travel games. You may also drop food off at Trotters Crossing and Turnpike fields during the week. Please give generously to help those in need.


MLU "Buddies" Meet Philadelphia Charge's Lorrie Fair

Thanks to The American Dairy Association, MLU players had an opportunity to attend the Philadelphia Charge's home opener on May 4th and meet Lorrie Fair before the game.

MLU Coach Inducted Into South Jersey Soccer Hall of Fame

Charlie Lincoln, MLU board member and long-time coach, was inducted into the South Jersey Soccer Hall of Fame in a November ceremony. Charlie founded the South Jersey Girls Soccer League in 1974 and served as secretary for five years. Charlie also served as NJ State Youth Soccer Association director for two years and director of indoor and outdoor tournaments for seniors and youth. In his 36 years of coaching youth soccer, Charlie's teams have won 2 State championships and appeared in the finals 7 other times.
